                                Platen Pad types

As standard Industrial Consumables UK Ltd manufacture the following types of pads:

Soft platen pads (foam) give a "cushioning" effect to the abrasive and are used for polishing and deburring applications
Hard platen pads (cork) give a level face for grinding and flat finishing. To be used when more rapid stock removal is required and for heavier       applications.
Teflon is a streamlined 1mm thick pad and is often used on machined faces and restricted areas.
Graphite pads are extremely wear resistant

                                       Benefits of using platen pads
  • Platen pads provide support for the abrasives, reduce processing times, considerably improves the surface finish
  • Using platen pads eliminates premature wear to the abrasive and to the contact arm
  • Platen pads greatly reduce your consumable usage and minimise the risk of the abrasive belts overheating, snagging or snapping.
  • Platen pads should be used on all belt grinders when grinding or finishing on the face of the contact arm.
  • Use with hand held, robotic and bench mounted belt grinders
