TIG Weld cleaning by Electrolysis has rapidly become the standard and safest method for passivating and removing surface weld contamination and discolouration on Stainless Steel Tig welded fabrications.
- Weld Cleaning machines such as the ElectroWand Combi MK4 (as pictured) uses a mild chemical cleaning solution
- The solution is far less hazardous and considerably less environmetally damaging than traditional acid baths and pickling pastes
- The cleaning effect of the mild acidic solution is activated by localised heating with a low amp current
- After cleaning and before the solution dries the solution should be washed off with a wet sponge and water
- A chemical neutralising agent is also available which reduces any remaining residue to a harmless salt solution
- The cleaning process passivates the TIG weld so the Stainless Steel remains stainless and contamination free.
